The inspiration for "China Red" came from the rich and diverse meanings associated with the color red in Chinese culture. From the red walls and lanterns of traditional architecture to the red lips symbolizing power and the high-end redwood furniture, the color red has deep roots in thousands of years of history. It is also a prominent feature in modern daily life, representing joy and peace during Chinese celebrations.

Centdegres has successfully integrated a series of design elements, such as the sea and mountain pattern, lines, and cubes, to create this new-classic masterpiece. The red color serves as a cultural vector, linking the past and the present. The result is a bright and eye-catching packaging that easily stands out.

The design process was not without its challenges. The team had to strike a balance between incorporating Chinese traditional culture and the young, modern, and feminine universe of Sephora Collection. Each element of the pattern has a specific meaning, and the stripes recall Sephora's brand visual identity. The launch date was planned for China's 70th anniversary, and the pattern creation required a lot of refinements with the Sephora Collection China team to achieve a balanced and subtle reinterpretation of modern China style.

After approximately one year of work, the project was launched in October 2019. The design has been well-received, winning the Silver A' Packaging Design Award in 2021. This award is given to top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that illustrate outstanding expertise and innovation. These designs, admired for their strong technical characteristics and splendid artistic skill, showcase a remarkable level of excellence and introduce positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.
